Press Release - POWER PORRIDGE TO THE POLE!

Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but the Commonwealth Women's Antarctic Expedition (CWAE) team need something extra special to give them the energy to power to the South Pole. Luckily Power Porridge have stepped forward to give the girls what they need.

Power Porridge is no ordinary breakfast - packed with 20 natural and organic ingredients including seeds and grains stuffed with vital goodness such as vitamins and Omega 3 - it is the breakfast of champions, quite literally! The British Women's Olympic Team, Chelsea Football Club and the Welsh Rugby Club all start their day with Power Porridge. Now the CWAE team will be using Power Porridge during their ski journey to the South Pole.

In December 2009, two teams of 4 women will set off from opposite coasts of Antarctica to ski 500 miles to the South Pole pulling sledges containing all the food, fuel and equipment they will need for their journey. On reaching the South Pole around New Year's Day 2010, the team members from Cyprus, Ghana, Brunei and Jamaica will be the first person from their country (male or female) to ski to the South Pole. The team members from India, Singapore and New Zealand will be the first women from their country to ski to the South Pole. As well as marking the 60th anniversary year of the Commonwealth, the expedition hopes to demonstrate the potential of greater intercultural dialogue and celebrate the achievements of women worldwide. Justine Jones, team member UK.
